1976

Building Founded

The Bay View Hotel, located at 22 Davidson Lane in Meer En See, Richards Bay, holds a significant place in the area’s history. Established in 1976, the same year the Port of Richards Bay was officially opened, the hotel is situated on Plot Number 1, indicating its status as one of the earliest developments in the municipality. This timing coincided with the development of Meer En See, the first suburb of Richards Bay, which began in 1970.

2024

A New Era of Ownership

In April 2024, The Bayview Hotel entered an exciting new chapter under the ownership of a dynamic local businesswoman. With a deep-rooted passion for the hospitality industry, she brings extensive experience from managing businesses and accommodations across Africa, as well as owning successful restaurants in the UK. Her vision is to blend the hotel’s rich history with modern hospitality, elevating The Bayview Hotel as a premier coastal destination in Richards Bay.

September 2024

Introduction of the Artisan Bakery & Pizza Oven

The Bayview Hotel expanded its culinary offerings with the addition of a state-of-the-art artisan bakery and a wood-fired pizza oven. This exciting development introduced freshly baked breads, pastries, and handcrafted pizzas made with premium, health-conscious ingredients. The new bakery and pizzeria blend comfort and quality, offering guests and locals an authentic, flavourful dining experience that celebrates fresh, wholesome food.

Deli Expansion & Gourmet Enhancements

In September 2024, The Bayview Hotel unveiled its newly upgraded deli, transforming it into a gourmet destination for guests and locals alike. The expansion features a professional barista-grade coffee machine, a tempting ice cream display, a fresh food fridge stocked with healthy options, and a dedicated frozen foods section. Additionally, the deli now offers a variety of ready-to-eat meals crafted for convenience without compromising on quality.
